French sporting retailer Decathlon is set to open its largest store in Kallang after inking a collaboration with national sports agency Sports Singapore (SportSG).

Located at Stadium Boulevard, the 5,000-square-metre store (about 54,000 sq ft) will be called the Decathlon Singapore Lab and is expected to open in January 2019.

Said to be the first of its kind in Asia, the store will feature virtual simulations and augmented reality, as well as new technology such as foot scanners and electronic-wallet capabilities in its payment systems.

Decathlon and SportSG are working together to further promote sport, health and wellness among Singaporeans through areas including the ActiveSG Sport Centres, ActiveSG Academics and Clubs, and Active Health, where labs will be set up in selected Decathlon stores for members of the public to learn how to manage their health.

There are also plans to install vending machines in sports centres where sports users will be able to purchase Decathlon products on-the-go.

Decathlon currently has three outlets here, in Bedok, Joo Koon and City Square Mall.
