Delhi Police busted interstate auto-lifter gang

New Delhi, September 22 (ANI): With the arrest of 4 auto-lifters and one receiver, Delhi Police has busted an inter-state auto-lifting gang active in the National Capital. Total 12 stolen cars and instruments used in theft, fake R.C. and number plates have been recovered from their possession. The gang used technical support system to decode the engine control module (ECM) to start their engine. After stealing the car, they forged engine and chasis numbers and used them to give a new identity to the vehicle. During the interrogation, the receiver of the stolen cars, Manish Kumar disclosed that he used to sell these stolen vehicles to the smugglers operating in Barmer, Rajasthan, for transporting illicit liquor and opium poppy as there is a heavy demand of cars like Brezza, Creta and Scorpio among the smugglers. They alter these vehicles by removing the back seats completely so that more smuggled items can be transferred easily.
