Deng Chao, Wang Luodan: 2014's Most Valuable Chinese Stars

29 Oct – Deng Chao and Wang Luodan have recently been named the Most Valuable Chinese Actor and Actress of 2014.

As reported on Phoenix News, the selection was made through the number of film and television works in 2014, as well as the actors' earnings and the amount of exposure they get in the print and digital media.

Deng Chao, who has never been on the top three list before, jumped to number one on the list, not only for his directorial debut "The Breakup Guru" that earned more than RMB 700 million (approximately USD 114 million) at the box office, but also for the attention he has been getting for his performance on the Chinese version of the K-variety show, "Running Man".

It was also rumoured that Deng will be playing the lead role in Stephen Chow's upcoming film, "Mermaid".

Meanwhile, 30-year-old actress Wang Luodan, who is not a first timer in the top three list, earned her top spot in the actress category for her TV and film works this year, including playing the titular role in her first costume drama "The Virtuous Queen Han", as well as the upcoming films "Rise of the Legend" and "The Continent" that will be released in November.

She will also be seen in Dante Lam's "To the Fore" next year.

In addition to Deng Chao and Wang Luodan, other stars who made the list are the recently married Zhou Xun, who makes her TV comeback this year with "Red Sorghum", as well as highest paid actress Cecilia Liu, who has three TV series this year with a total annual fee of RMB 54 million (USD 8.82 million).
