Denver Zoo's Amur Tiger Baffled by Cardboard Box

Denver Zoo in Colorado is providing daily updates to patrons on the lives of its animals, as part of a national “closed but still caring” campaign prompted by the coronavirus pandemic.

Footage released by Denver Zoo on April 4 shows nine-year-old Amur tiger Yuri clawing, scratching, and biting a large cardboard box in the zoo’s Tiger Encounter exhibit.

Yuri joined Denver Zoo last January following stints at Erie Zoo in Pennsylvania and the Bronx Zoo in New York.

Yuri was brought to Denver Zoo as part of a plan to pair him with Nikita, an eight-year-old Amur tiger already a resident at the zoo. Credit: Denver Zoo via Storyful
