KUALA LUMPUR: An aide of Deputy Home Minister Datuk Azis Jamman, who was caught on CCTV recording an upskirt video of a woman at a shop in Solaris Dutamas, has been sacked with immediate effect.
The minister, in a statement tonight, said he viewed the matter seriously and would not tolerate such behaviour.
Azis was undergoing an eye test at the optical shop when the incident occurred. He was accompanied by his aide at the time.
“I view this matter seriously. This individual had made the recording stealthily while I was undergoing an eye test.
“This is a despicable and heinous act. I have decided to act sternly against the officer who made the recording.
“After evaluating, I have decided to sack the officer immediately as his actions have affected my image and credibility as Deputy Home Minister, as well as that of the deputy minister’s office,” he said in a statement.
Azis said he apologised for the officer’s actions and stressed that it had nothing to do with other officers in his ministry.
Earlier, it was reported that the aide was accused of recording an upskirt video of a woman at a shop in Solaris Dutamas.
He was captured on CCTV committing the act at an optical store on Saturday. His victim was one of the store’s female workers.
The one minute, 47 second-long video has since gone viral on social media.
The woman has lodged a police report over the incident.
In her report, the woman said she was conducting an eye test on the minister in the shop at 11am.
The minister’s aide, she said, was hovering behind her.
“The man (the aide) was behaving suspiciously and I felt uncomfortable with his actions,” she said.
She said, as she turned to look at a screen next to her, she noticed that the man was holding a mobile phone and was recording a video.
“Later, after reviewing the CCTV footage, I saw that the man had placed his phone under my skirt and recorded a video,” she said in her police report.
