Designer Barbara Bui: 'My collection is aimed at strong-willed, liberated women'

Designer Barbara Bui presents her spring/summer 2017 collection September 29 in Paris

Ahead of Paris Fashion Week (September 27 to October 5), Relaxnews caught up with designer Barbara Bui, whose spring/summer 2017 collection previews September 29 at 5pm. As well as outlining her latest creations and inspirations for the season, the designer gave us her take on the "see now, buy now" revolution that's shaking up the industry.

What's the womenswear silhouette for the spring/summer 2017 season?
A mix-and-match of bright, clashing colors, of past and contemporary cultures, of ethnic influences and streetwear. It's a structured silhouette, with plenty of leg.

What or who inspired this spring/summer 2017 collection?
There was this desire for vivid colors, bright to the point of fluorescent. Mosaics and African motifs then bolstered this idea of an abundance of colors, offering a different interpretation of the mix of androgynous tailoring and extremely feminine pieces. Sporty touches with swimsuits and parkas push things further out of step.

Who is the collection aimed at? What style of woman?
A strong-willed and liberated woman, full of life and enthusiasm.

Today's womenswear silhouettes are free from all constraints, with no taboos when it comes to clothes. Is it still possible to revolutionize fashion in 2017?
For me, there's no need to revolutionize fashion. It's a constant evolution.

With "see now buy now" and the merging of menswear and womenswear collections, the face of fashion is changing. How do you see the future?
This is the current major evolution. "See now, buy now" is a very interesting concept since it's aimed at the real public, the people who actually buy clothes. Still, each fashion company will make choices in relation to its structure and organization. The concept will certainly still evolve.
