Devotees celebrate Krishna Janmashtami around the world

Janmashtami, also known as Krishna Janmashtami is a religious festival commemorating the birth of Lord Krishna, the eighth avatar of Vishnu. The festival of Janmashtami holds special significance in India, largely due to the religious and spiritual population present in this subcontinent.

Janmashtami is widely celebrated in Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Rajasthan and many parts of South India. Krishna Janmashtami is mostly celebrated on two consecutive days. This year, the festival falls on September 2 and ends on September 3, giving people the reason to have a huge celebration.
