27 May – Singaporean singer-songwriter Dick Lee will be holding an online concert this weekend, which will be streamed live on AsiaOne's Facebook.

Date: 31 May 2020 (Sunday)

The singer has prepared a total of eight of his specially selected songs to perform during the concert, which are described as a "representation of his journey to discover his identity and an exploration of his roots."

Among the songs that he will be performing are fan favourites like "Fried Rice Paradise", "Bunga Sayang" and "Home".

"Just before our Circuit Breaker is lifted, I thought I'd sing you a few songs to mark the end of a phase and the start of a new one," he posted on his own Facebook recently, inviting fans to tune in this Sunday "for a little live piano show!"

Singapore is set to exit the Circuit Breaker period this 1 June, which was enforced since 7 April 2020 as an effort to break the chain of COVID-19 transmissions in the country.

Dick Lee shares this on his social media, inviting fans to his special livestream concert.

Presented by Dick Lee Asia and mm2 Entertainment Pte Ltd, the singer also says in a press statement regarding his upcoming online concert, "This concert is really for my fans. I have been following the videos and social media posts of people across Singapore and even some overseas, performing my songs and I love it!

"Music has always been an important part of my life, and to see how people come together through music to keep their spirits up while staying at home, has been so moving and humbling.

"This concert is really for me to give back to them, our community."

A couple of months back, on 25 April, Dick Lee has also banded together with fellow singers like Rahimah Rahim, Shabir and Taufik Batisah, as well as a 900-strong virtual choir, for an islandwide sing-along session – during which he sang the song "Home".

The sing-along was joined by thousands of Singapore residents, who also waved torchlights from windows and balconies across the island in a gesture of gratitude and solidarity to the frontliners and migrant workers against COVID-19.

Having been in the music industry since 1971, at just 15 years of age, Dick Lee championed the acceptance of Asian elements in pop music throughout the '70s and '80s. His first album, "Life Story", was released in 1974. He's since expanded into writing musicals, serving as the Creative Director for several National Day Parades and making his feature directorial debut in 2017 with "Wonder Boy", an autobiographical musical film based on his own life as a singer.
