Dine-in for up to 5 vaccinated from same household at hawker centres, coffeeshops in steps: MTF

SINGAPORE — The Singapore authorities are working to allow groups of up to five fully vaccinated individuals from the same household each to dine in at hawker centres and coffeeshops in steps, the multi-ministry taskforce (MTF) on COVID-19 said on Monday (15 November).

The announcement of the further vaccinated differentiated safe management measures (VDS) comes after the MTF announced previously that from 10 November, up to five fully vaccinated diners from the same household can eat at the same table at food and beverage outlets like restaurants.

Last month, the MTF announced only up to two persons per group who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 could dine in at hawker centres and coffee shops, and enter shopping malls and attractions from 13 October.

“We expect the first group of hawker centres to put in place access control and checking systems before the end of November. For these hawker centres, once the systems are up, fully vaccinated individuals from the same household can dine in groups of five, just like other F&B establishments,” the Ministry of Health said in a statement on Monday.

As for coffeeshops, the Singapore Food Agency has been engaging the operators and will provide them with the option of putting in place a system to check the status of their patrons, which will allow them to let up to five persons from the same household to dine in. Otherwise, the prevailing group size of two will apply.

For dine-in of up to five persons from the same household, the authorities will expand the list of acceptable documents to check for proof of residence, from NRIC and SingPass, to the government digital apps myICA and SGWorkPass.
