Disturbing Deepfake: What F4 boy band looks like if they were Singapore politicians

·2-min read

We’ve seen our share of deepfakes and while some of them are realistic AF, some just pass off as deeply disturbing – in a make-your-skin-crawl way.

FYI, deepfakes are “synthetic media that have been digitally manipulated to replace one person’s likeness convincingly with that of another.” Think of it as a very modern, very sophisticated Photoshop.

This is just one of those examples.

Singapore politician and Speaker of Parliament Tan Chuan Jin recently shared a gem of a video on his TikTok account that made some of us not sleep peacefully at night.

@tanchuanjin1 Err…on a totally different note

literally… Don’t know whether to laugh

or cry

Or

Or…sing?

The video shows four politicians – Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Lawrence Wong, Minister for Health Ong Ye Kung, Minister for Education Chan Chun Sing and Tan Chuan Jin – as members of popular Taiwanese (and one of the OGs) boy bands, F4.

The original boyband members had long hair with center parts so, paired with the politicians’ faces, it was quite skin-crawling to watch.

We have to admit though, props to Tan for having a sense of humor.

He too, seemed amused and perplexed by the video, saying that he didn’t know “whether to laugh or cry”.

The original creator of the video is also not known.
