Creating last-minute Halloween costumes can be just as fun as store-brought masks and accessories — not to mention more affordable and sustainable.

You can opt for simple options like Steve Jobs and Wednesday Adams, or even Britney Spears, which is a go-to this year in the wake of the Free Britney movement.

You can also opt for more creative or pop culture-inspired costumes, like "Ted Lasso" or "Squid Game" characters that will not only keep you looking trendy but also won't break the bank.

Below, check out these 14 easy last-minute DIY Halloween costumes for 2021 that you can create with things you already own.

Ted Lasso

All you need to recreate this on-trend costume is a classic office look: a dark blue V-neck sweater over a baby blue shirt and a beige pair of trousers. Finish with a mean moustache, and don't forget Ted's sense of humour.

Steve Jobs

Steve Jobs is perhaps the easiest look to recreate: all you need is a black turtleneck sweater and a pair of round glasses. You could plug in your AirPods to accessorize.

Squid Game

With "Squid Game" being super popular, it's easy to recreate this one from the Red Light, Green Light game on the show. Simply throw an orange dress over a yellow collared shirt, and pair your long white socks with pigtails.

Bernie Sanders

This popular Bernie Sanders meme from the 2021 Presidential Inauguration earlier this year is both hilarious and easy to create. You just need a mask, mitts and a black parka. Don't forget the glasses and the hilarious pose.

Britney Spears

With the #FreeBritney movement trending this year, it's easy to pay tribute to the pop star's iconic looks. This one just requires staples from your closet: a white shirt, black skirt, grey sweater and pink scrunchies for pigtails.

Wednesday Addams

You just need a black dress with a white collar to channel your inner Wednesday Addams. To complete the look, make two braids and you're good to go.

Mean Girls

You know the reference - and this is a rather cute one for you and your plus one. Simply wear a pink shirt and print out the letters "BURN BOOK" and tape it onto the shirt. Your furry friend just needs to borrow a blue hoodie and shades.
