Dog owners spot SNAKE wrapped around their Great Dane as they drove on motorway

A couple who were driving on the M5 were more than a little alarmed when they spotted a snake wrapped round their pet dog.

Claire Breaney and Gavin Reed were on the road in Worcestershire when they noticed the serpent curling around the Great Dane’s leg.

The pair quickly stopped their car to call police to help with their unusual situation.

Thankfully the M5 is not in the middle of the Australian outback and the slippery intruder was nothing more than a harmless 5ft corn snake.

But that didn’t stop police tweeting their surprise at the call.

They wrote: “Most bizarre job for a long time. Officers attended a breakdown on the M5 in Worcs.. but it wasn’t a breakdown.Occupants had found a SNAKE!!…Aaaargh.. we were as surprised as the family (and pet dog!!).”

They added: “I suppose, ‘mummy, there’s a snake in the car’ is a bit more exciting than ‘are we there yet?’”

The couple later continued their journey after they discovered the snake was not dangerous - although their car will now need to be taken apart after the snake disappeared into its structure.
