Local airline tickets sold starting Aug. 1 should include the P200 domestic terminal fee, the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) said in a notice on Wednesday.
"The Domestic Passenger Service Charge (DPSC) commonly known as 'airport terminal fee' in the amount of P200 which passengers pay at designated counters in the NAIA (Ninoy Aquino International Airport) shall now be paid upon purchase of airline tickets through internet booking, airline ticket offices and ticketing or travel agents," MIAA said.
This, after six domestic carriers--Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific, Air Philippines, Seair, Sky Pasada, and Zest Air--have agreed to incorporate the NAIA domestic terminal fee into their airline ticket prices.
Collected terminal fees are used for maintenance and rehabilitation of local airports.
Passengers with airline tickets issued before Aug. 1, however, will still have to pay the terminal fee at designated counters at NAIA.
Such counters will be operational for up to a year after the implementation of the new policy, since airlines are expected to have sold tickets before Aug. 1, MIAA general manager Jose Angel Honrado said in a statement last month.
MIAA meanwhile advised domestic passengers to bring a printed copy of the airline ticket, electronic ticket or itinerary receipt. "This is to avoid inconvenience during the check-in process," MIAA said.
"The P200 is inclusive of VAT. No other fees in connection with the DPSC shall be charged to the passenger," MIAA added.
It also noted that for unused tickets, terminal fee is refundable within a year from ticket issuance.
Honrado in July said MIAA is preparing for a second phase of the integration, which will involve international carriers.
