Don't neglect religion in fulfilling lifestyle - Tengku Abdullah

KUANTAN: Muslims are reminded against neglecting the demands of the religion merely to fulfil the lifestyle created by humans currently, said the Regent of Pahang, Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah.

He said Islamic teachings should not be neglected at all even in the name of development or modernisation, making it important for everyone to strengthen their faiths.

In addition, Tengku Abdullah reminded the Pahang government leadership to be firm in tackling any attempt by irresponsible groups to divide or distort the faiths of Muslims.

.”.. this is because any creation of beliefs, teachings and philosophies can jeopardise the faith of the people,” he said in his speech at the opening of the 2018 Maal Hijrah Celebration at the Pahang state level at the Sultan Haji Ahmad 1 State Mosque, here today.

Also present at the function themed ‘Menyantuni Umat Membawa Rahmat’ (Supporting the People Brings Blessings) were Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail, Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Fuziah Salleh, Deputy Minister of Works Anuar Tahir, and State Exco for Religious Affairs, Education and Health Datuk Seri Syed Ibrahim Syed Ahmad.

Tengku Abdullah subsequently urged the Muslims to appreciate the meaning of sacrifice shown by the prophet (pbuh) which started the glory of Islam. — BERNAMA © New Straits Times Press (M) Bhd
