Donald Trump has branded Borat comic Sacha Baron Cohen a “creep”.

Baron Cohen has been making headlines recently with a new movie about fictional Kazakh journalist Borat Sagdiyev, a sequel to the 2006 original.

White House bureau chief Steve Herman told recently on Twitter of the US president talking about the film with reporters while traveling on Air Force One.

The mockumentary style sequel made headlines last week when a clip from it showed former New York mayor and vocal Trump supporter Rudy Giuliani in a hotel room with a woman acting as a journalist.

Herman shared that when asked about the clip, Trump responded: “I don’t know what happened. But years ago, you know, he [Sacha Baron Cohen] tried to scam me and I was the only one who said no way.

“That’s a phony guy and I don’t find him funny. To me, he’s a creep.”

Mr Trump briefly appeared on Baron Cohen’s Da Ali G Show back in 2003, but left an interview swiftly after realising Ali G was a character.

Baron Cohen took to Twitter to respond to Trump’s comments, saying: “Donald – I appreciate the free publicity for Borat! I admit, I don’t find you funny either. But yet the whole world laughs at you

“I’m always looking for people to play racist buffoons, and you’ll need a job after Jan. 20. Let’s talk!”

The new movie entitled Borat Subsequent Moviefilm, is a follow up to Baron Cohen’s Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan.

In a series of tweets in response to the viral clip, Giuliani said the footage is “a complete fabrication” and accused Baron Cohen of being a “stone-cold liar”.

He also told his 841,000 followers he has “called the police” once he realised that it was a “set up”.

Borat Subsequent Moviefilm is now streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
