Donald Trump told military leaders and reporters they could be enjoying “the calm before the storm” in a cryptic statement delivered at a White House dinner.
The US President reportedly summoned reporters to a dinner with his highest-ranking military aides and their wives for a group photo, telling them: “You know what this represents? Maybe it’s the calm before the storm.”
According to the New York Post, he then repeated: “Could be the calm, the calm before the storm.”

As the President delivered his foreboding message in the White House’s State Dining Room, reporters apparently asked him: “What storm Mr. President?”, asking whether he was alluding to ISIS, North Korea or Iran.
Mr Trump reportedly added: “You’ll find out”, adding: “We have the world’s great military people in this room, I will tell you that.”

During the same evening the president apparently praised his defense secretary and chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, saying “tremendous progress” had been made concerning the Islamic State group and also reportedly said Iran should not be allowed to obtain nuclear weapons.
He also reportedly offered another warning to North Korea’s Kim Jong Un, saying: “We cannot allow this dictatorship to threaten our nation or allies with unimaginable loss of life” and vowed to “do what we must do to prevent that from happening and it will be done, if necessary. Believe me.”
