I dreamed of singing, says the Ukrainian girl who sang Let It Go in bomb shelter
The seven-year-old Ukrainian girl who touched the world with her performance of Let It Go in a Kyiv bomb shelter Tuesday said it had always been her “dream” to be a singer.
Amelia Anisovych was filmed in the bunker as Russians attacked the city and her performance of the classic song from the hit Disney film went viral as she escaped to safety in Poland with her grandmother.
She told BBC Breakfast she wanted to thank people who “enjoyed my singing”.
She said: “I practise singing every day in the morning, afternoon and evening... it has always been my dream to sing.”
The video was originally shared online by Marta Smekhova who was also in the bunker.
She said the heartfelt performance stunned everyone... “from the first word, there was complete silence… everyone listened to a song by this girl who was just beaming light”.
Amelia’s version even reached the attention of its original singer Idina Menzel, who voiced Princess Elsa in the animated film.
She shared the Amelia video with a series of heart emojis.
