Drew Barrymore believes the benefits of exercise reveal themselves in her skin.
The actress has become something of a beauty icon since she set up her own make-up label Flower Beauty seven years ago. In addition to make-up, Drew is big on skincare and admits to "stalking" facialists such as Georgia Louise and Shani Darden for tips.
However, she's most happy with how her skin looks after she's finished a tough workout.
"The way I look afterwards, my skin is dewy pink and plump, it's so amazing. I'm always like, 'Yes, this is what I'm supposed to be doing every day,' and then three weeks go by and I'm like, 'Gotta get to a workout class again,'" she smiled in an interview with British Vogue. "I do a bunch of different stuff. Cardio, yoga... you have to trick the muscles into doing different things."
In spite of her glowing post-gym complexion, the 43-year-old admitted she's "super inconsistent" when it comes to her fitness regime, and won't sacrifice a treat in order to exercise instead.
"I do wine and pizza for two weeks and then am really good for two weeks, then bad for three weeks and good for two. That's kind of how I live my life," the mother-of-two explained. "Like if you're ending your workday and plan to work out afterwards and then everyone's like, 'Let's go for drinks,' you're like, 'Oh f**k it. Ok, let's go for drinks.'"
And though the Never Been Kissed star is fond of home beauty treatments you can do in your own time, she occasionally splurges on a massage - but for necessity rather than pleasure.
"Once in a while I try to get a massage but it's usually with the physical therapist because I've injured myself working out, rather than a pampering session," she cringed.
