SINGAPORE — A 44-year-old woman, the second driver involved in a fatal early morning accident along Cantonment Road on 5 January, has been arrested.

Police said on Sunday (12 January) that the woman had left the scene before officers arrived and was arrested on Friday for failing to render assistance. Investigations into the case are ongoing.

The accident, which took place just before 6am, involved two cars and a power assisted bicycle (PAB). The PAB’s rider, a 69-year-old woman, was pronounced dead at the scene by a paramedic. According to a Straits Times report, the deceased’s name is Ong Soh Boey.

A 25-year-old man, the driver of a red Maserati, was arrested on the day of the incident for dangerous driving causing death.

Yellow car caught on video

Photos posted on the SG Road Vigilante Facebook page on 6 January showed a yellow Honda Freed being towed to the Health Sciences Authority’s Forensic Chemistry and Physics Lab Garage.

The car resembles the one seen in a video of the accident. Police later confirmed with TODAY that the vehicle had been taken away by the authorities.

In the video, a red Maserati and another red car are seen at the accident site, with a person lying on the traffic lane closest to the kerb.

A man in the video is seen crossing the street to speak to the driver of the other red car. As he does so a yellow car is seen travelling at speed along the lane that the person was lying on, dragging the person’s body a few metres down the road.

The yellow car is not seen stopping after running over the person.
