Drug trafficker on stolen bike nabbed at Besut petrol station

BESUT: A 21-year-old drug trafficker was detained while waiting for customers near a petrol station at Kampung Anak Ikan here, yesterday.

District police chief Superintendent Mohd Zamri Mohd Rowi said following a tip-off, a team of policemen from the narcotics division of the Besut police station apprehended the man who was sitting on a Yamaha 225Z at the scene at around 12.01am.

The raiding party found a small bag containing 300 stimulant pills in the suspect’s possession.

It is learnt that the suspect has been active in distributing drugs in the Kampung Anak Ikan and Felda Selasih areas.

“Police also seized RM1,100 in cash from the suspect, believed to be from drug deals,” Zamri said today.

“Our inspection also revealed that the motorcycle he was using was reported missing at Chabang Tiga police station several months ago,” he said, adding that the vehicle was seized for further probes under Section 379A of the Penal Code for motorcycle theft.

Zamri said the suspect was taken to the Jerteh police station for further investigation under Section 39A (1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

He said the suspect, from Felda Selasih in Jerteh, tested positive for amphetamine and is being held for further investigation at the Besut police station's lock-up.
