DSWD Secretary Judy Taguiwalo
The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) insists that the agency is not tolerating the members of Kalipunan ng Damayang Mahihirap (Kadamay) who refuse to leave the government housing units in Pandi, Bulacan.
DSWD Secretary Judy Taguiwalo said the agency has the duty to help Filipinos in need.
“This is part of our mandate to provide assistance to families in need regardless of their political affiliation,” she said.
The secretary added that they have assisted not only Kadamay members but also the legitimate relocatees in the area.
“They asked us for assistance, we cannot say, ‘oh, you know you’re breaking the law’ because that has never prevented us from giving assistance to persons in crisis,” Taguiwalo said.
