We're all well aware of the 'Kate effect', whereby any item that the Duchess of Cambridge chooses to wear instantly sells out if it's currently available to buy (see also: the 'Meghan effect'). Of course, the royal women will also be aware of the impact their fashion choices have on their fans, the press and the brands they showcase, meaning they are often very careful to dress appropriately for events, and champion brands that they genuinely want to endorse.

For a visit to the London Early Years Foundation nursery and pre-school in Stockwell Gardens this morning, Kate chose a £90 jumper from French cool-girl label Sézane - a favourite among fashion editors. The cream Tulio knit, which is still available to buy online, is made from merino wool - a more sustainable alternative to cashmere - and features a delicate lace collar.

Kate paired her jumper with black skinny jeans, ankle boots and a teal coat, which she removed once inside.

The royal visited the school during breakfast time, where she helped to serve healthy fruit and cereals to the children. She also discussed the childhood development survey she launched last week with the staff.

It's not the first time that the duchess has chosen to wear clothing from Sézane, which was set up by founder Morgan Sézalory in 2013 and bears the tag line: "Welcome to French every body can speak". It was created from Sézalory's desire to offer women the finest quality pieces with a Parisian touch - at affordable mid-range price points.

Kate also wore a ruffle-neck blouse from the brand to visit the Lake District in 2019, which she wore under a green jumper and military-style jacket.
