Duo nabbed over foreign workers permit graft scandal released on bail


GEORGE TOWN: The two men, arrested in connection with a temporary foreign workers permits (PLKS) graft scandal have been released on bail today.

The duo, aged 38 and 46, were arrested at their office in Taman Chai Leng, Perai about 4pm on Thursday and was remanded for five days to assist in the investigations.

Both of them, a cleaner and also an agent, were said to have taken bribes for PLKS applications without following the proper procedures set by their company MyEG Services Berhad.

The remand order issued under Section 16 (b) (A) of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Act (MACC) 2009 expired today.

They were released on RM5,000 bail each.

The duo are among nine arrested in Selangor, Johor and Perak by anti-graft officers in a sting operation.
