Dutch Eurovision 2024 representative collaborated with Russian artists after full-scale invasion

The second semifinal of the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 took place on May 9, with the Netherlands' representative Joost Klein vying for a spot in the final. Klein has collaborated on songs with Russian artists.

Klein's tracks featuring Russian artists were released after the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022.

One track features Russian musician CMH (CrazyMegaHell), real name Ruslan Tushentsov, and was released on platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube Music on March 11, 2022. Klein sings about his love for Russian women there.

“Hello, my name is Joost Klein I love Russian baby I believe without negative Russian move.”

“I want a Russian lady I want some Russian babies…”

Tushentsov performed the song at a concert in St. Petersburg in the summer of 2022.

The second song, titled "Normalje Bass," was released in February 2023 in collaboration with rave group Russian Village Boys from St. Petersburg.

Klein was chosen to represent the Netherlands at Eurovision 2024 from among 600 contenders. After his victory in the selection process, the rapper said:

"Participating in the Eurovision Song Contest is a dream come true. I watched it year after year with my parents, glued to the screen.”

“It's a great honor for me to represent the Netherlands, and I intend to do everything possible for the best result."

The Netherlands, along with nine other countries from the second semifinal, including Armenia, Austria, Estonia, Georgia, Greece, Israel, Latvia, Norway and Switzerland, advanced to the final of the song contest, which will take place on May 11.

Klein remains the front-runner in bookmakers' predictions for Eurovision 2024.
