President Rodrigo Duterte and Senator Leila de Lima belong to Time magazine’s 100 Most Influential People of 2017.
President Duterte is under the leaders’ list while Senator De Lima is under the icons’ list.
Presidential Spokesperson Undersecretary Ernesto Abella said the fact remains that President Duterte’s campaign against illegal drugs, crime and corruption is still supported by most Filipinos.
On the other hand, Malacañang also reacts to the inclusion of Senator De Lima in the list.
Abella said Time magazine has failed to clarify that Senator De Lima was arrested and detained.
Abella added that a court determined probable cause to hear her case on her alleged involvement in illegal drugs operation and not because of her criticisms against the administration.
Meanwhile, the lady senator appreciates the recognition of Time magazine that gives weight to her fight for justice. — UNTV News & Rescue
