Eamonn Holmes has sparked outrage leading to 400 Ofcom complaints over his recent jibe at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

On Wednesday, 20 April's GB News' Breakfast with Eamonn and Isabel, the presenter and co-host Isabel Webster were discussing Harry's recent TV appearance on America's The Today Show.

Harry, who spoke about his and wife Meghan's secret visit to Windsor recently, had stated that he wanted to ensure his grandmother, the Queen, was 'protected' and 'had the right people around her'.

Holmes proceeded to slam Harry's suggestions that the Queen was not around trusted people and then controversially asked why the other royals wouldn't "just throw him over the balcony and her [referring to Meghan] with him?"

The 62-year-old went on to claim that Harry, who lives in California with Markle and their two children and is penning an autobiography, is "going to write a book" where he "s**gs off" his dad Prince Charles and his stepmother Camilla.

Viewers took to twitter hitting out at the comments at the time. Media personality Dr Shola Mos-Shogbamimu tweeted: "Eamonn Holmes casually incites the murder of Prince Harry and Meghan on national television and y’all letting him away with it?

"All this hate from Eamonn because Harry married an ‘uppity’ woman with a Black mother and Harry wants to live a life of his own. So very British."

"And then they wonder why H is so worried about security!," tweeted another.

Another added: "@eammonholmes - this is inciting the murder of the Sussexes. Disgusting reporting."

A fourth viewer said: "Eamonn Holmes has an issue against brown & black people. He attacked Mariah Carey in the past, now he’s suggesting that Prince Harry & Duchess Meghan be thrown off the palace balcony if they appear there.

"We need to start a petition against this vile person."

The complaints will be assessed before Ofcom decides whether to launch an official investigation on Holmes, who left his hosting role on ITV’s This Morning in December to join GB News.

Holmes has long been an outspoken critic of the royal couple.

In 2019, he also came under fire after using the word 'uppity' to describe Meghan Markle on This Morning – the term has been historically used in America since the 19th Century as an insult to black people who were ambitious and 'didn’t know their place'.

He remained defiant about his use of the word saying that he hadn’t 'learnt anything' from the backlash.

He added: “People can make their own judgment whether they think it was a deliberately racist remark or not, so that’s all I have to say about that. People can have their own views on it.”
