EastEnders fans loved the soap's Mitchells flashback episode so much that they are calling for a full series of the iconic soap family's back story.
On Monday, BBC One aired a one-off special episode exploring Peggy, Eric, Phil, Grant and Billy Mitchell's lives in the 70s and how the environment of toxic masculinity at home made the family what they were in their troubled later days.
It was such a success that viewers said they would love to see the half-hour special extended into a full series.
One fan tweeted: "This is so good. I need this to be a full show right now #EastEnders"
Someone else wrote: "Absolutely loved that. My only minor complaint is that it should have been longer than 30 minutes. I really hope they do this with more iconic families in the future, it would be great to see #EastEnders"
Another fan replied: "They just need to make a whole Mitchell series with that exact cast at this point!"
Jaime Winstone starred as Peggy, the role made famous by the late Dame Barbara Windsor, and viewers also praised Daniel Delaney for his realistic turn as the young Phil.
One viewer tweeted: "The casting of Young Phil is so good that it's actually messing with my head a bit."
Someone else wrote: "That was one of the best #EastEnders episodes ever. Reminded me of how it was when it first started. The actor playing young Phil nailed it perfectly. Great performances all round."
Other viewers agreed that the episode was a triumph, with one person writing: "Without any shadow of a doubt, that was one of the best #EastEnders episodes I’ve ever seen!"
Another viewer added: "Wow flashback episode of #EastEnders was amazing well done everyone at @bbceastenders it was like watching the Kray Brothers with their mum Violet and Dad Charlie and that twist between Keeble and Mitchells!"
Someone else agreed: "It had that feel to it, brilliant episode. Must do a #Mitchellspinoffseries continue this story."
