Edu Manzano supports releasing names of celeb drug users

The actor supports the measure only if there's evidence and not just lip service

26 Aug - While Robin Padilla is begging for the authority not to release the names of possible celebrity drug users, actor and former politician Edu Manzano is expressing full support for such a measure to be taken.

As reported on Chisms, the actor, who spoke to the media at the press conference of his new drama, "Someone to Watch Over Me", stated that he has no qualms having the authority reveal the names of celebrity drug users.

"I'm okay with it being revealed. But my only request is that these are valid claims, not just rumours. That they have hard evidence and not just lip service," said Manzano. The actor said that the authority should be careful as to not make the mistake of releasing false information that will damage the good name of innocent celebrities.

As for Padilla's comments that authorities should keep the information about these celeb drug users between them and the artistes' management, Manzano stated that networks and artiste managers should have been making the proper intervention in the first place.

Previously, President Rodrigo Duterte publicly named over 150 government officials and public servants allegedly involved in the illegal drug trade in what is now known as the Duterte's Drug List.

The Malacanang later revealed that the government would not hesitate to reveal the names of showbiz celebrities who are involved in drugs as well, if there are validated intelligence reports.
