Eight Indonesians arrested at Woodlands for possessing Islamic State photos

Eight Indonesians were arrested on Wednesday (11 Jan) at the Woodlands Customs, Immigration and Quarantine (CIQ) complex for alleged possession of Islamic State material.

The news was first reported by Malaysian news agency Bernama.

The group was reportedly carrying Islamic State-related photos including a photo of a homemade shoe bomb.

According to Bernama, the group attempted to enter Singapore via Johor and were arrested by Singapore authorities at about 1.30am.

They were then handed over to the Malaysian police and deported to Batam after further investigations.

The group was then taken into custody by Indonesian police for investigations.
