JEMPOL: A 65-year-old woman is believed to have been murdered during a robbery at her home in Kampung Baru Rompin here, yesterday.

The body of Joriah Ahmad was discovered by her 35-year-old daughter at about 5.30pm, when she dropped by for a visit.

She found her mother sprawled on the floor, with her head covered in blood, and alerted the neighbours, who called the police.

“The daughter later discovered that a television set and a mobile phone were missing from the house," said Jempol district police chief Superintendent Noorzainy Mohd Noor.

He said police believe the victim was killed by a thief who had broken into the home.

The body was sent to the Tuanku Jaafar Hospital for a post-mortem and an investigation on the case is ongoing.
