KUALA KRAI: An elderly woman was found stabbed in the kitchen of her home in Mengkebang here today.
It is believed that she is a victim of robbery. The 61-year old has been identified as Rokiah Mamat, was found by her child, a teacher, at about 3.30 pm, upon returning from school.
Kuala Krai police chief Superintendent Abdullah Roning said the teacher, in 30s, found the gate and door of the house open on and found the mother sprawled in the kitchen with blood on her head.
Abdullah said it was believed that Rokiah was already dead when she was found and the house has been ransacked.
"Initial investigations showed that the victim had earlier had a conversation with a neighbour at about 9am before going back into her house.
"She was not seen again after that," he said.
Abdullah said based on the blood stains it was believed that she might have been killed at about 11am.
He said further investigations would be carried out by the Kelantan police contingent's forensic unit.
