Elle Macpherson is a denim collector

Elle Macpherson thinks she has the largest denim collection in the world.

The Australian supermodel loves wearing jeans in her down time. She can’t settle for just one look though, so she has an enormous range of cuts in her wardrobe.

“I’ve probably got the biggest denim collection in the world: skinnys, flares, cigarettes,” she laughed to A magazine. “I use to wear them with heels, motorbike boots or pumps. I am really a jeans type of girl. I love them more than designer dresses or things like that.”

Although she loves fashion, Elle thinks some people take it too seriously. While she enjoys looking her best, she doesn’t obsess about her wardrobe choices.

“Nobody has ever died from wearing the wrong dress,” she said. “The most important think is taking it with lightness and being at peace with oneself. I’ve two children, I work a lot, I have no time to stop and think about picking dresses. The only suggestion I have is to create your own personality.”

Elle is also keen for people to understand a lot goes into the look she sports when she is modelling. She has a great team of stylists who work on her, but goes completely the other way when she isn’t working.

“During my career I had the best hairdressers, the best make-up artists, photographers, lighting specialists: this helps a lot to look your best in the magazines and on TV,” she explained. “Looking my best is part of my career, but in everyday life I don’t care at all. I know what can enhance my value, but I also have a good sense of humour.”

It’s more than just its inherent speed, or the whooshing noise that fills the cabin like a school choir jamming with James Hetfield. It’s what it represents in an industry full of skeptics. It’s a portal into the future – a time capsule left by some mad scientist born decades too soon. It’s something that shouldn’t exist. And yet it does.
