Dog the Bounty Hunter Star Beth Chapman Shows Off Her Bright Smile a Week After Hospitalization

Beth Chapman is ready for Easter!

On Sunday, the 51-year-old Dog the Bounty Hunter star and wife of Duane “Dog” Chapman shared a new post on Instagram to celebrate Palm Sunday.

“Don’t forget the reason for the season,” she captioned the photo, smiling wide at the camera.

“You look beautiful,” commented Jamie Chapman, who is the wife of Beth’s stepson Leland Chapman.

Beth’s post comes one week after she was hospitalized in Hawaii amid her battle with cancer. The star was rushed to the hospital after experiencing difficulty breathing, TMZ reported.

Earlier this year, Entertainment Tonight reported that Beth had begun chemotherapy treatments for throat cancer. Shortly after, she confirmed the report, posting an update on her Instagram with hashtags: “cancer sucks” and “it’s only hair.”

The reality star was first diagnosed with stage II throat cancer in September 2017.

Two months after the diagnosis, she and husband Dog told fans that doctors were able to completely remove the cancer. However, the cancer returned the following year.

On Nov. 26, 2018, Beth was rushed to the hospital for an emergency surgery to remove a tumor that was blocking her airways.

“I take it one day at a time. And I believe in the power of prayer,” she told PEOPLE shortly after the surgery.

When she was originally diagnosed in 2017, Beth opened up to PEOPLE about not letting the disease win in breaking her spirit.

“I knew I couldn’t let it take me over,” Beth told PEOPLE. “I had to keep moving, every day, moving forward. That’s all you can do when you get a diagnosis like this. So I take it each day at a time. And I’ll fight it with all that I have.”

Beth revealed she never wanted any pity from friends, family or fans, sharing how she surrounded herself with people who helped her “move forward.” One of those people was her husband, who she married in 2006 after 16 years together.

“When we made a pledge many years ago, I said I’d love her in sickness and in health until death do us part,” Dog told PEOPLE in 2017 after her initial diagnosis. “And that truth has really, really come alive in my mind. And I have to stand on that; I gave her an oath that I would love her forever. And thank God it’s not till death do us part at this point.”
