England returned to Uefa Nations League action with a promising 2-1 Wembley victory over Belgium on Sunday.

The Group 2 rivals went into the break level at 1-1 after Romelu Lukaku and Marcus Rashford scored a penalty apiece. Eric Dier's clumsy sliding challenge brought down Lukaku in the box and the Inter Milan striker sent Pickford the wrong way with a thumping effort from the resulting spot-kick 16 minutes into the match.

England attempted to rally before half-time and referee Tobias Stieler pointed to the spot in the 38th minute: Thomas Meunier hauled down Jordan Henderson, and Rashford fired in the penalty.

A deflected Mason Mount effort then put the Three Lions 2-1 ahead 19 minutes after the restart to set up a tense finale - and England held on to leapfrog Belgium into first place in the group.
