2. Cheese tteokbokki with hot dogs wrapped in rice paper

This tteokbokki recipe features a homemade take on tteok rice cakes. First, cut hot dogs in half. Then remove their natural casing. Next, dip a sheet of rice paper in water and place it on a cutting board. Wait for eight seconds. Then tightly wrap a halved hot dog. Repeat this process with your favorite cheese and the remaining hot dogs. Add the rice paper-wrapped cheese and hot dogs to a saucepan with water, followed by a sauce made of gochujang, soy sauce, sesame oil, sugar and water. Cook for approximately seven minutes before serving with chopped scallions.

3. Cinnamon sugar tteokbokki

Tteokbokki can also make a great dessert! For this recipe, begin by soaking tteok rice cakes in warm water for one hour if they aren’t fresh. Next, fry the tteok rice cakes in a wok with canola and sesame oil for about seven to eight minutes. Once crispy, remove the tteok rice cakes from the heat and coat them in a mixture of sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg. Finally, serve with melted caramel and apple slices, and enjoy!

4. Non-spicy tteokbokki

If you’d rather keep it cool when it comes to your food, you’ll definitely want to try this non-spicy tteokbokki. First, add water, light soy sauce and sugar to a saucepan over medium-high heat. Next, add raw bulgogi, followed by chopped potatoes, sliced zucchini, narutomaki (fish paste) and sausages. Then cover the pot and let everything simmer before tossing in Korean fish cakes, mushrooms and tteok rice cakes. Finally, cover the pot once more and let everything simmer before garnishing with chopped scallions and sesame seeds.

5. Honey butter tteokbokki

This honey butter tteokbokki combines two Korean culinary favorites into one amazing dish. Start by soaking tteok rice cakes in water for 30 minutes, and then drain.
