With over $850 million at the global box office ($314 million of which was earned here at home), Thor Ragnarok proved to be yet another large-scale hit for Marvel Studios — and, thanks to the hilarious direction of Taika Waititi, also one of the MCU’s laugh-out-loud funniest installments. That status will only be reconfirmed when the blockbuster arrives with supplemental features galore on various home platforms in the coming weeks. But you don’t have to wait any longer to experience at least one of that package’s half-dozen deleted and extended scenes, because we’re exclusively premiering it right here.
In the above clip, Jeff Goldblum’s Grandmaster orders Tom Hiddleston’s Loki and Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie to capture Chris Hemsworth’s God of Thunder, and then waves them away with a flick of his hand. Neither Loki nor Valkyrie seem, at least, initially, to understand what that gesture means. However, as quickly becomes clear, the really clueless one in the room is Grandmaster’s bodyguard Topaz (Rachel House). What follows is a prolonged bit in which a (clearly improvising) Goldblum attempts to get House to identify the hand signal for “asking for the check” — an exchange that somehow doesn’t end with either one of them bursting into laughter.
Thor Ragnarok will be available on Digital HD and Movies Anywhere on Feb. 20, and then on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, DVD, and On-Demand on March 6.
