Eric Tsang denies allegations of rape

15 Jan – Hong Kong actor-producer Eric Tsang has recently released a statement blasting several online gossip portals and news media for accusing him of rape.

As reported on Mingpao, recently, a clip from an interview with a former actress Yammie Lam went viral in which the actress talked about being sexually assaulted in the past by two big names in Hong Kong showbiz.

In the clip, which was previously released in 2013, she can be heard saying that it happened 20 or 30 years ago in Singapore and that her attacker was probably drunk when it happened. The names were muted in the original video.

However, a new unedited version of the video circulated recently, which shows the actress naming her attackers as Eric Tsang and Alan Tang, the latter who died in 2011.

In a statement released by his legal rep on social media, Eric stated that there is no truth to the matter, and that the supposed "unedited" version of the video has been edited to make it seem like Yammie has named him.

It also stated that they are now forbidding others to reprint the relevant false information, and urged the news media to rationally verify the authenticity of the information and jointly resist online rumours.

The actor is also threatening legal action against those who goes against their wishes.
