KOTA KINABALU: Eastern Sabah Security (Esscom) has sent a letter to Hairul Azreen, an actor involved in the movie PASKAL, to have his statement recorded.

This was in relation to a claim made by the actor that he was nearly kidnapped while filming in Semporna.

Esscom commander Datuk Hazani Ghazali said they have yet to get any statement from the actor as he was probably busy promoting his movie.

"We will wait for a reply from him, we already sent out a letter two weeks ago to record his statement," he said when contacted by NSTP.

Before this Hairul Azreen claimed that together with fellow actor Ammar Alfian, the both of them nearly became the targets of pirates while filming for the movie PASKAL in Semporna earlier this year.

He also added that during the incident, he was with Ammar at an oil rig after they completed several scenes before someone told them that authorities had the information that pirates were targeting to kidnap them.

Esscom in an earlier statement had already described the actor's allegation as baseless as during the filming process at Tun Sharifah Roziah (TSR) oil rig, actors and crew were escorted by trained security personnel.

Hazani in a previous statement, said the allegation would create negative perception towards safety at the Eastern Sabah Security Zone (Esszone). © New Straits Times Press (M) Bhd
