Your essential Christmas easy menu time plan 2020

Your time plan will depend on when you like to serve lunch. Weigh your turkey crown well in advance to calculate the cooking time, allowing 30-35min per kg. Allow plenty of time for the turkey to rest.

This guide is based on a 3kg turkey crown and serving the main course at 3pm. If using a double oven, you don’t need to do the Get Aheads on the potatoes and squash as you can cook to serve, but we have included them below.

2 DAYS AHEAD

Prepare No Bake Irish Cream and White Chocolate Tart

1 DAY AHEAD

Prepare according to Get Aheads

  • Pigs in Prosciutto and make Cranberry Sweet Chilli Dip

  • Goat’s cheese mixture for starter

  • Chunky Sage and Onion Stuffing

  • Turkey crown – weigh and calculate cooking time

ABOUT 10.45AM

Prepare according to Get Aheads

  • Crispy Roast Potatoes

  • Roasted Squash and Sprouts with Blue Cheese

ABOUT 11.15AM

Take the prepared turkey out of the fridge (keep covered) to come up to room temperature.

ABOUT 12.15PM

  • Start roasting the turkey (adjust your timing according to its weight), remembering to uncover and baste during cooking.

  • Roast grapes for starter

ABOUT 1.45-2PM

  • Check turkey is cooked. Take out of oven and transfer to a large board. Cover with foil and leave to rest in a warm place.

  • Cook Pigs in Prosciutto

  • Remove stuffing from fridge to come to room temperature

  • Make gravy, to reheat later

  • Assemble starter

Serve Pigs in Prosciutto

  • Put stuffing in to cook

  • Serve starter

ABOUT 2.50PM

Reheat according to Get Aheads

  • Potatoes

  • Squash

  • Gravy

3PM

Serve turkey and all the trimmings
