The Food Served on Airlines Around the World
You never really know what's going to show up on your plate when you order a mid-flight meal.
Inflightfeed is a blog, run by Nik Loukas, documenting the many different airline meals offered on various airlines. Loukas is taking some of the mystery out of ordering dinner at 35,000 feet in the air.
Loukas has circled the globe 17 times and started tracking his many meals in 2012. His blog covers meals had while traveling a total of 428,000 miles on 405 different flights (on 65 different airlines) to visit 44 countries.
Loukas told CNN that his passion started with a career project that required him to work with an in-flight caterer. (He has been working in the travel and aviation industries for more than 15 years.)
Turkish Airlines is his favorite: He credits caterer Do & Co for “creating some of the best in-flight dishes in the world.” When it comes to budget airlines, his recommendations are Peach and Pegasus Airlines, specifically for memorable sushi and steak.
Another great feature on the blog is a breakdown of airlines and what to expect on their menus—great for when you're debating an airport terminal lunch versus something once you're settled into your seat. Or, you know, if you're just wondering if the Hello Kitty meal offered aboard EVA Air is really worth all of the hype.

Loukas is looking to take his blog to the silver screen and is currently crowdfunding on IndieGogo for a documentary about this project.
