Everything We Saw At Today's Nintendo Direct

Today, June 18, 2024's Nintendo Direct may not have had everything we wanted to see (sorry Silksong), but damn did it have some great looking games coming to Nintendo’s hybrid console. Yes, we got to see Metroid Prime 4, but there’s so much more. So let’s get into it!

Mario and Luigi Brothership

Nintendo opened up its show with Mario & Luigi Brothership. Featuring almost-but-not-quite-cell-shaded graphics, signature platforming, and even some RPG combat elements, it was hard to keep up with the many different sights and sounds of what’s on offer in this game.

Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition

Time for a nice throwback. With 13 differnet NES games across a variety of genres, this collection looks like an excellent way for you to put your retro skills to the challenge and then brag to your friends.

Fairy Tale 2

An anime adaptation in action RPG form, Fairy Tale 2 features real-time combat and a wonderful variety of different environments. Fauiry Tale 2 is expected this Winter.

Fantasian Neo Dimension

Hinorobu Sakaguchi and Nobuo Uematsu. Need I say more? Fantasian Neo Dimension sees Final Fantasy legends Sakaguchi and Uematsu’s gorgeous RPG arriving on the Switch this Holiday 2024.

Nintendo Switch Sports Basketball

Making its journey from the Wii to the Switch, Sports Basketball finds its way to Switch as a free update to Nintendo Sports. It offers 2v2 local and online multiplayer.

Mio: Memories In Orbit

Somber music, a mysterious-looking protagonist, and beautiful environments with delightful-looking platforming combat, Mio Memories In Orbit arrives in 2025.

Disney Illusion Island update

Mickey Mouse really needs your help in this update for Illusion Island. With an all-new mystery to solve, the update is expected to arrive later today, June 18.

Hello Kitty Island Adventure

Hello Kitty is going open-world! Aren’t you excited? Hello Kitty Island Adventure arrives early 2025, and Animal Crossing fans should enjoy this one.

Looney Tunes: Wacky World of Sports

With four-player local co-op and classic Warner Bros. characters, Looney Tunes: Wacky World of Sports looks like an arcade-themed blast.

Among Us update

Among Us is getting an update that introduces new character types to jazz up the wildly successful deduction formula. The new update arrives later today, June 18.


Its time to farm and raise monsters that will follow you in battle against an evil tyrant of the underworld. Felicidad arrives on Switch on November 1, 2024.

Donkey Kong Country Returns HD

Some evil foe has stolen Donkey Kong’s banana horde and we can’t let that stand. Featuring classic side-scrolling action across 80 levels playable with two-player local co-op, Donkey Kong Country Returns HD arrives on January 16, 2025.

Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake

It’s time to go back to Dragon Quest III, this time in lovely HD-2D. The remake arrives on November 14, 2024. Damn, do I love that HD-2D look.

Dragon Quest I & II Remakes

We saw the briefest of announcements for the return of Dragon Quest I & II. These remasters are expected to arrive next year, 2025. But don’t worry, playing III first is true to the canonical order.

Funko Fusion

Hey, are you tired of Funko Pops? How could you possibly be? Well Funko Fusion is coming to the Switch on September 13, 2024 and offers a variety of classic series like Jurassic World and Battlestar Galactica.

Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD

It’s time to partner up with Luigi yet again in a return to Luigi’s Mansion 2 via an HD remaster.

The New Denpa Man

Battles, island farming, and four-player co-op, Dempa Man is a free title expected to arrive on the Switch on July 22, 2024.

Metal Slug Attack Reloaded

Arriving today, Metal Slug Reloaded remixes the series’ classic look as a tower defense game. The game is available now (so go play it or something!)

Darkest Dungeon II

Darkest Dungeon returns with a sequel that looks as dark and full of dungeons as we’d expect it to. The game arrives on July 15, 2024.

GBA Advance and N64 Remasters

For you retro fans, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Metroid: Zero Mission, Turok: Dinosaur Hunter, and Perfect Dark (hell yeah) are all arriving on the Switch later today.

With seven arcade fighters packaged into a single installment, online PvP and co-op, Marvel vs Capcom arrives on Switch later this year.

Super Mario Party Jamboree

Hope you’re ready to party, because Mario and pals sure are. Featuring a wide variety of new party mini-games and some classics challenges, Jamboree arrives on October 17, 2024.

The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom

With some absolutely gorgeous visuals, and a boy named Link gone missing, its time to play as Zelda herself. But girlie ain’t down with swinging swords. Instead, she’s to take ownership of the Tri-Rod, a magical item that lets her create “echoes” of objects to navigate the world and duplicate tons of objects and monsters to fight for her. You go, girlboss. Echoes of Wisdom arrives on September 26, 2024 along with a brand new Zelda-themed Switch lite.

Just Dance 2025 Edition

Hey, do you like dancing? I sure as hell don’t, but maybe you do. Good thing Just Dance 2025 edition arrives on the Switch this October with those same, eerie visuals.

Lego Horizon Adventures

We saw Lego Horizon Adventures during Summer Game Fest this year, and yeah, it still looks super friggin’ cool. I mean, don’t you want to smash up robo dinos with made out of Lego bricks with a pal online or locally? Lego Horizon Adventures arrives on Switch (and PS5!) on Holiday season 2025.


Kitty’s going portable with Stray’s arrival on Nintendo Switch. How this wasn’t already a thing, I’m not sure, but it this feline’s post-apocalyptic adventure seems a purrfect fit (I’m sorry) for the Switch.

Tales of the Shire: A Lord of The Rings Game

While it is funny to imagine the Shire under brutal assault from Sauron, maybe a nice, chill, Hobbit sim where you get to share bountiful meals with Hobbit friends is a bit nicer.

Ace Attorney Investigations Collection

With the power of logic, you too can crack the tough cases of the world of Ace Attorney. With both modern and retro-style graphics, Ace Attorney Investigations Collection arrives on September 6.

The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy

One day you’re just having a nice stroll with a pal in a pretty city, the next you’re running for your life from weirdos destroying everything. The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy tasks you with defending your school from swarms of freaks ready to pillage and murder.

Romancing Saga 2: Revenge of the Seven

In this remake, you’ll have to confront fallen heroes with “timeline battles” and formation mechanics that leat you strategize your path to complete victory.

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond

Hell yeah. Our girl Samus is finally back in first-person. Today’s Nintendo Direct treated us to some gameplay from this upcoming FPS and it looks too good to resist. Metroid Prime 4 is expected to arrive in 2025.
