Becoming a Disney princess at one of the company’s theme parks is a dream job for many young people. But one former employee says it’s not as glamorous as it seems.
Internet personality Sarah Daniels (@sarahdanielstv), whose TikTok bio describes her as an “ex Disney princess,” responded to a question from a viewer about how men — specifically dads — treated her while in costume.
“How many dads end up hitting on you BECAUSE you’re the character? As opposed to because you’re an attractive woman?” they asked.
In a video, Daniels said that “if dudes are going to be creeps and hit on you, they’re going to hit on you whether you’re a character or not.”
“There were many moments, especially as Tinker Bell, where I had married men hand me keys to their hotel room and tell me where they were staying,” she continued.
The allegation shocked her commenters.
“She’s a PERSON in costume being made to feel uncomfortable,” another said.
Daniels is no stranger to questions about her time as a Disney cast member. She has answered questions on TikTok and Twitch like “why do characters get paid so little,” “what advice do you have for parents of toddlers meeting characters” and “do the costumes smell?”
Her “horror story” videos about her time at the park are especially popular.
Daniels is not the only one making recent claims about the trouble with being a Disney character.
“The characters want you to have a great time and enjoy meeting them, but it is their place of work. It is a family place of business,” user @evansnead said after sharing footage of the incident. “They’re people. Treat them like it.”
