Ex-Kelantan MITI director remanded over RM180k false claims probe

KOTA BARU: An ex-Kelantan International Trade and Industry Ministry director was remanded today to facilitate a probe into a false claims case involving more than RM180,000.

Kota Baru magistrate's court registrar Noraida Mohd Husin issued a seven-day remand order on the 35-year-old suspect under Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code. The remand order ends on March 21.

The former director, who is now attached with the Public Services Department, was arrested by Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) officers at his office in Putrajaya at noon yesterday.

It is learnt that the former director had allegedly made false claims for several projects for companies which he had acted as a proxy.

Kelantan MACC director Datuk Moh Shamsuddin Yusoff confirmed the arrest but declined further comment as the investigation is still ongoing.
