The Santana GTS is Volkswagen’s follow-up to one of its popular nameplates here in the Philippines. The five-door wagon is touted as a practical solution for those looking for the perfect balance of spaciousness and performance.
Outside, it offers straightforward exterior amenities. Included are halogen reflector headlights, turn signals on the side mirror, and roof rails. Inside, the Santana GTS looks plain and durable with faux carbon fiber trims and a striking red line on the dash. A sunroof and wide mirrors allow plenty of natural light during the day and give the driver a good view of the road.
VW’s subcompact offering is simple and efficient and makes for a good family carrier or a grocery hauler. At the back, the Santana GTS offers around 372 liters of trunk space. With the rear seats folded, you get up to 1,255 liters of boot area.
Powering the Santana GTS is a 1.5-liter (multi-point fuel injection) MPI gasoline engine with Blue Motion technology. This gives the subcompact car the power it needs while still being a fuel-efficient vehicle.
Safety-wise, customers can expect a rear Park Distance Control (PDC) with an acoustic warning, front and side airbags, Isofix child seat mounts, and electronic stabilization program (ESP).
The Santana GTS is offered in two variants, the 180 MPI AT SE and the 180 MPI AT SE with Blaupunkt. Although these are sold as separate trims, the only difference is the upscaled infotainment system from the German car radio company.
