Audi on Thursday unveiled a new electric vehicle brand in China whose cars will sport just the name AUDI and not its signature four-ring logo, a move aimed at attracting younger customers in the world's largest auto market. An engine failure on a passenger plane taking off from Sydney, Australia on Friday prompted the aircraft to circle before a safe emergency landing, the airline Qantas said. And, in Britain at least, the diesel that dowdiest of locomotives, had replaced the steam engine, with all its noise and romance.

The passengers were escorted off the plane by local authorities once landing in Tenerife

"It was apparent something had happened with one of the engines, then the plane seemed to labour to get off the ground or get any altitude," ABC journalist Mark Willacy said.
