Exclusive: The Sister's Nina Toussaint-White on the show's original ending
The Sister ending spoilers follow.
ITV's four episode drama The Sister came to an end Thursday night (October 29), and befitting a show going out the week before Halloween, it turned out that the main characters were being haunted by Elise's ghost. Or that's what the consensus seems to be anyway.
In the final episode, Russell Tovey's character Nathan managed to not only clear his conscience after learning he didn't murder Elise, he managed to clear his name by pointing the police in the direction of his creepy mate Bob, who was responsible.
The series ended with Nathan seeing Elise's possible ghost in the back of his car, or maybe it was just a manifestation of his guilt and his grip on reality slipping. Either way, it looked like his happiness was going to be short lived.

Originally, however, the ending was going to be a bit darker, as Nina Toussaint-White – who played police officer Jacki – explained exclusively to Digital Spy.
"I remember reading the script and it wasn’t until I watched this show that I realised they'd changed the ending," she stated. "I didn’t know this.
"Reading the script, Nathan is in the car and he looks into the wing mirror and Elise flashes up and then he crashes the car. They didn't use that, which means Nathan's still very much alive, as is Bob. He's in a coma where he won't wake up, but lots of things can happen.
"It's based on a book [called Burial] and there isn't a second book, [but] I think there's very much room for a sequel."

Do you think the ending was changed to leave it open for a potential sequel? We think it's entirely possible, but based on public response. People didn't love the ending, but maybe the viewing figures will be good enough for a greenlight.
