A man accused of molesting his son’s nine-year-old classmate after a Halloween party has been slapped with five new charges of sexually assaulting another boy.

The alleged offences date back to 2011 and involve an eight-year-old boy. The new charges come just five days before the verdict on the man’s current case is to be delivered in the High Court.

On Wednesday (1 August), the fresh charges were filed against the 48-year-old foreign national, who cannot be named due to a court-imposed gag order.

According to the charge sheets, the man, a senior executive working in Singapore, is charged with attempting to perform oral sex on the boy by opening his mouth very close to the boy’s penis while standing in front of him. He also faces three counts of molesting the boy by fondling and touching his private parts, and one count of showing the boy a pornographic video.

All the incidents allegedly took place between April 2011 and May 2011.

The man is currently awaiting the verdict of his current case, which is due to be delivered on Monday (6 August).

For the current case, he is accused of molesting his son’s classmate on the night of 31 October 2015, while the boy was sleeping over at his home.

The incident occurred following a Halloween party, after the boy had gone to sleep in the upper-deck of a double-decker bed. The man’s son slept in the lower bunk.

The man allegedly entered the room several times during the night and molested the boy thrice while the boy pretended to be asleep.

After the assault, the boy packed his belongings and told the man’s wife that he wanted to go home as he felt unwell. He confided to his father about the incident when the latter came to pick him up.

In closing submissions submitted to the court last month, the man’s lawyer Selva Kumara suggested that the victim might have fantasised about the molest incident after having consumed too much sugar from the Halloween party.

The defence lawyer tried to portray the boy as an attention-seeking liar who had been sexualised by his school environment, the prosecution told the court on 18 July.
