Explosions heard as fire breaks out at LPG facility in Jurong, SCDF battling blaze
UPDATE: One person died and two workers were injured following the fire.
SINGAPORE — Explosions were heard as a huge fire broke out at a liquid petroleum gas (LPG) bottling and distribution facility in Jurong on Friday (21 June) afternoon.
The blaze at 43 Jalan Buroh is believed to have started at about 5.15pm.
Videos and photos uploaded onto social media show thick black smoke rising into the sky.
An hour into the fire, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said on its Twitter account that it was still in the midst of fighting the blaze.
“The fire is still raging and SCDF has deployed jets to surround the fire,” said the SCDF.
Accompanying the statement was a video “at the fringe of the incident site” showing the use of an unmanned firefighting machine, or UFM, which is a remote controlled device used to operate in extreme heat and hazardous environments.

The location houses Summit Gas Systems, a subsidiary of Union Energy Corporation (UEC). UEC distributes LPG cylinders to residential and commercial customers.
As of 6.50pm, the fire was still raging.
Two workers suffered burn injuries and were conveyed to Singapore General Hospital, SCDF said.
