Express bus skids and overturns on NSE, six injured

JOHOR BAHRU: Six people were injured when the north-bound express bus they were in skidded and overturned at Kilometre 89.1 of the North-South Expressway (NSE).

There were 12 passengers and one driver on the bus when the incident occurred at 1am this morning.

Six of the passengers were injured and some were thrown out of the vehicle. At the same time, a driver of a Toyota Vios managed to avoid the bus but instead hit the road divider.

Ayer Hitam Fire & Rescue Department chief Isyadi Dani said they received a distress call at around 1.06am and two engines and 14 firemen were deployed to the scene.

He said the rescue team found that some of the passengers were still stuck inside the bus.

“We rescued them one by one and all the victims have been sent to Sultanah Nora Ismail Hospital for treatment.

“NSE management had to use a crane to move the bus and clear the traffic,” he said, adding that the accident caused a one-kilometre crawl.
