This is the battered and bruised face of the UK’s worst known serial rapist after one of his victims bravely fought back.

Greater Manchester Police published the image of Reynhard Sinaga, taken following his arrest four years ago.

Sinaga, 38, is serving a minimum of 40 years in prison after being convicted of 159 sexual offences against 48 men.

The image of his beaten face from June 2017 was taken after his final victim, a male teenager, woke up in Sinaga’s Manchester flat face down on the floor with the rapist on top of him.

In the mugshot, Sinaga has two black eyes and bruising to his forehead after his victim fought him off.

The image has been released ahead of BBC2 documentary Catching A Predator, which will be broadcast on Wednesday.

After the teenager fled the scene, he was initially arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

After police inspected Sinaga’s phone they found a video of him attacking the teenager.

It soon emerged that Sinaga had drugged a number of men and raped them in his Manchester flat.

Although he was convicted of sex attacks on 48 men, police believe he may have targeted more than 200.

Sinaga, originally from Indonesia, would follow victims who had became separated from friends on nights out then lead them to his Princess Street flat.

Sinaga preyed on lone, drunk young men around nightclubs near his flat, posing as a Good Samaritan who offered them a floor to sleep on or promised them more drink.

Many of his victims have little or no memory of the assaults.

Sentencing Sinaga at Manchester Crown Court in January 2020, Judge Suzanne Goddard QC described him as “an evil serial sexual predator” and a “monster”.

In December 2020, Sinaga had his initial minimum life sentence of 30 years extended to 40 years by the Court of Appeal, after the Attorney General’s Office said it was “unduly lenient”.

In April, police said they were trying to trace a further 60 men who they believe were victims of Sinaga.
